What About Child Identity Theft?
The problems posed by identity theft have now gone beyond the adults alone because children are becoming victims also. You may be surprised that your supposed family friend might end up stealing the identity of your child to be used illegally. It may be sold to strangers who are desperate for new identities as results of crimes committed elsewhere.

Identity theft is much harder on children because they are quite vulnerable and don’t usually notice for a very long time. This will allow the criminal to use such fake identity to engage in several crimes such as opening and owning many credit card issuers and so on. It becomes evident to the child when he reaches 18 and applies for students’ loan. The reason for denial might be shocking and absolutely disgusting because the child wasn’t aware that his ID was being criminally used by unknown persons.
You as the parent should make it your priority to protect your children’s identity by keeping their birth certificates and social security numbers at very safe places. Identity theft can wreck the future of your child so ensure that you ask for reason why any institution is requiring details such as the social security number. Don’t fail to check your child’s account on regular basis to know if there are any suspecting financial transactions.
Teach the child how to sing up with the online social networks without revealing much about him and install protective software in your computer and phones. Check with credit reporting agencies to know the credit report history of your child, this will help you to detect any form of financial crime against your child as a result of identity theft. The earlier it is detected the best.
